Janine grew up in Singapore sitting at the kitchen table watching, hearing, and smelling her grandmother’s food whilst doing her homework. On the other side of the world in western Massachusetts, Cathy visited her grandmother’s house on weekends, enjoying a bowl of soup with vegetables grown from her grandmother’s own garden.
Together, they will be collaborating on a Chinese-Peruvian (chifa) dish, Lomo Saltado, a stir-fry dish served with french fries and white rice. With one of Latin America’s largest Chinese Chinatowns in Peru’s capital city, Lima, chifa dishes have become a mainstay of many Peruvian households.
While there is no cost to attend, our teachers have selected a recommended charity of Everybody Eats, Philly, a non-profit fighting against hunger and serving the Philly community.
Tradition Kitchens is excited to partner with Muhlenberg College's Departments of History and Sociology & Anthropology to bring you this class.
