Description

Enjoy a full-day hike that showcases the natural and cultural wealth of the Sacred Valley. Be in awe of stunning landscapes and learn more about Andean culture. Begin your day with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco. Head towards Pallata, and make a short stop in Ollantaytambo, the former royal estate of the Inca Empire. Continue on to Pallata and begin your hike. Starting at 3100 meters above sea level, this hike takes you through several ecological floors that display magnificent changes in the colors of the flora and fauna. Witness and experience the cloud forest phenomenon, where the humidity of the valley is retained causing it to drizzle all year. At 3800 meters above sea level, arrive in Choquechaca. Meet the locals that live in this quaint town and learn about its traditions and culture. Then, enjoy a box lunch before heading back. On your way back, take a detour to Pumamarca, the Inca archeological site with the largest number of platforms throughout the valley. Conclude your hike with a relaxing ride back to your hotel.

Important Information

  • Roundtrip transportation is available from hotels located in Cusco's historic center
  • This activity requires good acclimatization (at least full 48 hours in Cusco downtown altitude)
  • Rates do not apply for Peruvians or foreign passengers whose stay exceeded 60 days in Peru because sales taxes are not included in the above total and, if applicable, will be collected by the local partner
  • Maximum altitude: Choquechaca 12467 feet / 3800 m.a.s.l. - Walking distance: 4.3 miles / 7 km
  • The use of face masks in public places is no longer mandatory due to a decrease in COVID infection in Peru. With the exception of health facilities, ground transportation services and closed spaces without ventilation. However, it is recommended that persons over 60 years of age who have received less than three doses of COVID continue to use the KN95 mask for preventive purposes.
