I was here at the beginning of July. Lots to like but we got a private room and needed to be up early in the morning. The bar just outside the room wasn’t a problem until 10 when they started karaoke until 1am! The bar is way too close to all the rooms to be blasting volume like that so we couldn’t sleep even with ear plugs. If I’m getting a private room Im going with wild rover hostel next time.
THERE’S NO HOT WATER. Just bear in mind that there is no hot water. The set up of the rooms could be improved and I didn’t really felt welcomed, just rushed by as if I was doing them a favour. Nothing too bad but definitely made me stay a day less. The oasis is stunning though and definitely worth a visit
It’s a nice hostel with a good pool, the staff are very friendly! However there’s a couple things, they only tell you on the day of arrival that it is a party hostel and it will be loud till 1/2am. I think this information should be disclosed before, I wouldn’t have stayed here if I had known that for example as some people value their sleep. Another thing is there aren’t any sheets in the dorm beds, only blankets which aren’t cleaned on every use, mine was covered in hairs. It just doesn’t feel nice to be sleeping with a used blanket, you need a sheet as well so the blanket doesn’t touch the skin!
Really wanted to love this hostel so I’ll start with the positives! The hostel itself is gorgeous with a big, open pool area and lots of places to chill with a view of gigantic sand dunes. The room itself was very clean and to a high standard with a plug socket, light and curtain on each bed. Staff were very helpful in booking our sand dunes tour so I would definitely book through them. Unfortunately, check in for us was 1.5-2 hours late which I have never experienced before. The guy on reception who was Venezuelan (sorry I didn’t get your name!) was very helpful and apologetic and gave us 10% coupons for the bar while we waited but when we went to the bar for a couple of beers; the bar lady was very dismissive and said the bar was closed until 5pm for a meeting. A few minutes later, we saw a couple get served Aperol Spritzes so asked a staff member if we could get some drinks as we haven’t been able to check in and he said soft drinks and beer only (which is what we were hoping to order in the first place). Eventually we got served but did feel like we had been passed around from pillar to post just so we could get a drink. Eventually, we checked in and I asked if everything was okay because it was quite a delay and I learned that some staff members didn’t show up so rooms weren’t cleaned etc and they had been struggling. Completely understand however, communication and transparency is key in managing guest expectations and the way we were treated by the bar staff could have been better. We were later offered a free drink for the mishap which was appreciated but it ended up being a drink not of our choice and was a really sweet shot loaded with Sprite. Overall, I would recommend this hostel because of the facilities but on an operational level, there are some things that could be improved on. Thank you to the Venezuelan guy on the front desk, I really appreciate you were doing your best to help us.
Big fan. They did a Just Dance night that was so fun!! Their Poke Bowl was a giant bowl of vegetables and I loved it. Room was super clean and comfortable. AC worked really well. The drinks are kinda expensive but it’s the middle of the desert so I don’t fault them. You can get a 7 sol water pass. The pool is nice. The coffee from across the street is great.
