Description

Begin your tour with a visit to Qoricancha, the most important temple of the Inca Empire dedicated to the Sun God (Inti). Admire the perfectly carved stone walls and learn about the temple’s astronomical and ceremonial importance. Hear how the Spanish built the Convent of Santo Domingo over the original temple, creating a remarkable fusion of Inca and colonial architecture. Next, visit Sacsayhuamán, one of the most impressive Inca archaeological sites near Cusco. See the massive fortress, famous for its giant megalithic stones, some weighing more than 100 tons, perfectly fitted together without mortar. From here, enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Cusco city. Continue to Qenqo, an important Inca ceremonial and ritual center. Explore carved stone altars, underground passages, and amphitheater-like structures where the Incas performed religious ceremonies and ritual offerings. Next, stop at Puca Pucará, an ancient Inca military outpost located just outside Cusco. See the terraces, defensive walls, towers, plazas, and water channels that once served as a strategic control point protecting the city. Finally, visit Tambomachay, often referred to as the Temple of Water. Marvel at the stone aqueducts, canals, and ceremonial fountains, demonstrating the advanced hydraulic engineering of the Inca civilization.
