Your unforgettable Ausangate 7 Lakes adventure begins with a 4:30 am pick-up from your hotel in Cusco by our professional guide, who will welcome you and provide all the necessary information before starting this incredible journey into the heart of the Andes. From Cusco, we will travel toward the remote Andean community of Pacchanta, located at 4,100 m (13,451 ft), at the foot of the majestic Ausangate Mountain. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a warm and delicious buffet breakfast, prepared by local families to provide the energy needed for the adventure ahead.
After breakfast, our guide will organize the horses and explain the route, safety recommendations, and meeting points for the day. Since horses move faster than hikers, the first meeting point for the entire group will be at Pucacocha Lagoon, the first lagoon along the route. Horseback riders will arrive earlier, allowing them enough time to explore the area, take photos, and enjoy the spectacular landscapes while waiting for the hikers. Once the entire group is together, we will continue the journey and discover the beauty of the Ausangate 7 Lakes.
Because this is a shared group tour, you will enjoy the experience together with travelers from different countries, creating a friendly and social atmosphere throughout the adventure. Our guide will coordinate the group at all times to ensure everyone enjoys the route safely and comfortably.
During the tour, we will visit the spectacular 7 Lagoons of Ausangate: Pucacocha, Patacocha, Alqacocha, Q'omercocha, Orqo Otorongo, Otorongo, and Azulcocha. Each lagoon has its own unique colors and charm, surrounded by impressive Andean landscapes and the majestic presence of Ausangate Mountain, one of the highest peaks in Peru at 6,384 m (20,945 ft).
One of the highlights of the day will be the Ninaparayoc Viewpoint, where you will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the seven lagoons, the surrounding valleys, and the incredible Ausangate Mountain. This viewpoint offers one of the best perspectives of the entire area and a perfect opportunity to capture unforgettable photos.
After enjoying the landscapes and taking plenty of photos, we will return to Pacchanta on horseback, where a delicious buffet lunch will be waiting for you.
To complete this unforgettable experience, you will have time to relax in the natural hot springs of Pacchanta, surrounded by beautiful Andean scenery. After this relaxing moment, we will begin our return journey to Cusco, arriving at approximately 6:00 pm.
Important Note: This is a mixed group tour where some participants will ride horses while others will complete the route by hiking. A local horse handler will accompany your horse throughout the experience. If you have previous horseback riding experience, you can ride at your own pace by informing our professional guide. Since horses move faster than hikers, you will have additional time to enjoy the 7 Lakes, the viewpoints, and the hot springs.
