Description
Huchuy Qosqo means “Little Cusco,” and it is located on the upper third of the mountain known as Qaqya (Thunder). It also features one of the most impressive examples of topographic modification through the use of terraces. The edges of cliffs and vertical ravines above the Vilcanota Valley were shaped, culminating in platforms that were used as ceremonial esplanades. Surrounding these platforms, several architectural structures made of stone and adobe can still be found standing. These materials were used and worked with great skill, resulting in a fine finish.
Itinerary
1. Hotel pick-up – 6:00 AM
Our team will promptly pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to begin the adventure.
2. Transfer to Chinchero
We will travel in comfortable tourist transportation to the village of Chinchero, a location near the starting point of the trek.
3. Start of the hike
From Chinchero, we will begin our hike along Andean trails, enjoying the scenery and the local flora and fauna. During this section, we will have free time to enjoy this magnificent experience, accompanied by our guide.
4. Guided tour of Huchuy Qosqo
Upon arrival at the archaeological site, our guide will provide a detailed explanation of the history, architecture, and cultural significance of Huchuy Qosqo.
5. Free time for photos
After the tour, you will have time to capture the stunning panoramic views of the Sacred Valley and explore at your own pace.
6. Descent to the village of Lamay
We will begin our descent by walking towards the picturesque village of Lamay, passing through fields and rural communities.
7. Traditional Lunch
In Lamay, we will enjoy a delicious lunch featuring typical regional dishes, perfect for replenishing our energy.
8. Return to Cusco
After lunch, we will board our tour bus for a comfortable return journey to the city of Cusco.
9. Arrival and end of service
Finally, we will drop you off at your hotel, concluding our service with the satisfaction of having enjoyed a unique experience.
