Description
This private tour is designed for travelers staying in the Sacred Valley who want to see its four great sites with one expert guide, without big bus groups and without rushing.
Your guide for the whole day is Diego, a certified guide based in Urubamba with 18 years of experience leading groups for National Geographic, Belmond and Adventures by Disney. There are no rotating guides and no strangers joining: just your group, Diego and a private SUV.
The day starts with pickup at your hotel between Calca and Ollantaytambo. At Ollantaytambo, you'll climb the terraces of the great Inca fortress and learn how its giant stones were really quarried, moved and fitted, beyond the myths most tours repeat. Next is Moray, where circular terraces create different microclimates, and you'll understand why the Incas built them. At the Maras salt pans, you'll see thousands of pools still worked by local families, as they have been for centuries. The tour ends in Chinchero, a traditional Andean town where local artisans show how they spin, dye and weave alpaca wool with natural plants, before you return to your hotel.
Because the tour is private, the pace is yours. Want more time for photos, a stop at a viewpoint, or a lunch recommendation? Just ask. Diego speaks fluent English and adapts the explanations to your interests, whether that's engineering, history, culture or photography.
Good to know: entrance tickets are not included. The partial Tourist Ticket (approx. 70 soles) covers Ollantaytambo, Moray and Chinchero, and Maras has a separate fee (approx. 20 soles) paid to the local community. Both are paid in cash on site, and Diego will help you buy them quickly.
