Description
Experience 2 days on Lake Titicaca combining boat travel, Andean landscapes, local communities, and time spent with a local family in Amantaní. Day 1: Puno – Uros – Amantaní Your experience begins at approximately 8:00 a.m. with pickup from your hotel in central Puno. You will head to the main port to board a regular shared boat and begin your journey across Lake Titicaca. During the boat ride to the Uros Islands, you can admire the waters of the lake, the surrounding Andean mountains, and the landscapes of the highlands. Keep an eye out for birds that inhabit this ecosystem, especially around areas covered with totora reeds. After approximately 25 minutes, you will reach the floating Uros Islands. You will meet the local community and learn about how the islands are built using totora reeds, their traditions, and their way of life connected to the lake. The visit lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. You will then continue by boat toward Amantaní. Upon arrival, a local family will welcome you and accompany you to their home, where you will spend the night. This is one of the special moments of the experience: spending time with a local family in Amantaní. You will have the opportunity to talk with your hosts, learn about their customs, and share a meal prepared with local products such as potatoes, oca, quinoa, eggs, and cheese. In the afternoon, you will walk toward Pachatata or Pachamama, places connected to the traditions of Amantaní. Along the way, you can enjoy views of the island's agricultural fields and Lake Titicaca. After returning to the family home, you will share dinner with your hosts. In the evening, you will take part in a cultural gathering with traditional music and dances from Amantaní before spending the night at the family home. Day 2: Amantaní – Taquile – Puno After breakfast, you will have some final time with your hosts before saying goodbye and continuing to Taquile Island. Upon arrival, you will take a walk of approximately 1 hour along the island's paths. You will visit the handicraft center and museum of Taquile, where you will learn about the island's history, traditions, and renowned textile culture. You will then have time for lunch at a local restaurant. You can enjoy regional dishes such as quinoa soup and trout served with potatoes and salad, or an omelet with rice, depending on availability. After lunch, you will take a short walk to one of Taquile's ports to board the boat back to Puno. During the return journey, you can enjoy the final views of Lake Titicaca. You are expected to arrive in Puno between approximately 3:00 and 3:30 p.m., followed by a transfer to your hotel. This experience allows you to discover Lake Titicaca from different perspectives: the life of the Uros community, time spent with a local family in Amantaní, local food and traditions, and the textile culture of Taquile.Includes
