Sheraton Lima Historic Center

Visited Lima for a few days and wanted to find a place outside the more touristy Miraflora district. Decided this Sheraton fit the bill and enjoyed my stay there. The hotel is located in a very nice area across the street from parks and museums and easy access to many locations. Rooms were clean, plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, and service was friendly. Definitely recommend if you're visiting.
I just got into my room but felt the need to write a glorious review of Jesus at the front desk. You know when someone welcomes you like you just came home? Jesus gives off those exact vibes. I love coming to S America because everyone is so kind and caring about your experience- above & beyond as always. My room also had a bath which is a huge bonus as I have been traveling 19 hours now. It's quiet & clean. Thanks Sheraton Lima!
Stayed here for a layover, unfortunately during national protests so we did not leave the hotel. But it was a nice change of pace from more Peruvian hotels we had been staying in - it's familiarity as a Sheraton property was welcome at the end of our trip. The service was 5-star, but the property itself isn't, per international standards. Nice, but not what you'd expect. The bathrooms are a little worn, as is the carpet throughout the property. The furniture has seen better days. But clean! We also ate in the restaurant, again because we couldn't really leave because of the protests in historic center area. The service was impeccable and the food was vastly better than the majority of hotels in which I've dined. A really nice surprise was the large LED wall they installed in the bar area to watch the world cup. The bar prices were a little high, but the serving sizes of drinks and food was generous. Patatas Bravas were fire. I don't blame the hotel for the protests, obviously, but the area did not instill a desire to explore the area even if we could. High traffic, dirty streets and sidewalks, graffiti covered buildings. I'm rating the location lower because the area isn't particularly attractive or interesting.
The reception staff are very kind, but this is not a 5 star hotel. We stayed here on 2 separate occasions, a week apart, on the 16th and 18th floors. We ended up with outdated rooms during both stays. Both rooms smelled musty, the shower didn’t drain, the bathroom vent was extremely dusty, and the bedding had stains. For having Marriott Gold status, I would have expected a better room. Additionally, the walkway area outside the rooms feels like a potential safety hazard. It’s a bit terrifying if you look over the railing, considering it only comes up to chest level and you are 16 floors up.
First nice hotel I ever stayed in and I really enjoyed it. When I arrived, there was an issue with my room, and they had us in another room with all our stuff moved over on a cart in 5 min. The assistance outside of that was also great (directions, recommendations, etc.). Cannot go wrong staying here.
