Sitio arqueológico de Cutimbo

Este es uno de los cementerios prehispánicos más importantes de la meseta andina. Perteneció a los reinos Lupaca y Colla. Aunque hay evidencia de arte rupestre que tiene 8000 años de antigüedad, las principales estructuras fueron construidas entre 1100 y 1450 d.C. También hay restos de la época de los Incas. Las chullpas o pucullos, grandes torres funerarias, dominan el paisaje.

  • Ubicación: El sitio está en el distrito de Pichacani en la provincia de Puno.
  • Temperatura promedio: La temperatura media anual alta es de 58ºF y la temperatura media anual baja es de 37ºF.
  • Acceso por tierra: El desvío al sitio se encuentra en el kilómetro 17 del tramo Puno-Moquegua de la carretera transoceánica, al sur de Puno (20 minutos en auto).
