Description

Begin your journey with a pickup from your hotel in Santa Rosa. Travel to the starting point of your hike, passing through rural roads surrounded by mountain landscapes and fields cultivated by local communities. Once at the starting point, begin a 1-hour hike. The moderate path allows you to fully enjoy the natural surroundings. Traverse landscapes of high ecological value, with typical Andean vegetation and the possibility of observing local wildlife, such as vizcachas, Andean birds, and llamas grazing freely. As you ascend, breathe in the pure mountain air and enjoy the silence of the mountains, providing a direct connection with nature. Upon reaching the Kunurana Viewpoint, located at 4,894 meters above sea level, be greeted by one of the most impressive views in the region. From this privileged point, contemplate the three colored lagoons, whose waters change hue depending on the light of the day and the minerals at the bottom. Admire the imposing Kunurana snow-capped mountain, a sacred mountain for local communities, considered a protective Apu. Enjoy a complete panoramic view of the Santa Rosa community and the surrounding valleys. Take time to take photographs, rest, breathe the pure mountain air, and simply marvel at the majesty of the landscape. During the hike and visit to the viewpoint, your local guide will share with you the ancestral legends of the Apu Kunurana, stories full of wisdom that have been passed down from generation to generation. Additionally, learn about the medicinal flora and native plants found in the area, many of which are still used by locals for healing and protection. After returning to the starting point of the hike, be transferred to a small family restaurant or communal house where you will enjoy a typical Andean lunch: cancacho, a traditional dish prepared with roasted meat (usually lamb or beef), accompanied by native potatoes and mote. This lunch is not only delicious but also a way to directly support local families and get to know their culinary customs more closely.
