Conocida como el lugar de nacimiento del plato de mariscos frescos 'ceviche', Huanchaco es una playa muy querida en la ciudad de Trujillo.
 
Nombrada Reserva Mundial de Surf en 2012, atrae a surfistas de cerca y de lejos.

Playa Huachaco 

Huanchaco, que alguna vez fue un tranquilo pueblo de pescadores, se está convirtiendo en un destino debido a su ambiente relajado, sus maravillosas playas y su proximidad a las antiguas ruinas de Chan Chan, una de las ciudades más grandes de la Sudamérica precolombina.
 
El sitio arqueológico está a sólo tres millas de Trujillo, y las visitas guiadas se pueden reservar en los agentes de la ciudad.
