We stopped in here for two quick apps before a meeting and LOVED everything we got. We got the corn croquettes and Andean soup, but also were served these amazing little quinoa and fruit paste tasters. I cannot tell you how amazing everything was. So many local ingredients, you could tell they put a lot of time and care into their food. Our waiter Daniel was so kind and explained all of the ingredients and even showed us what the olluco was. Overall 15/10 we loved it, my friend is a good scientist and can be hard to impress and she was floored by the flavors.
So we have a reputation for honesty. The food and service is consistently good. The lamb shank is the best overall meal we have had in dozens of meals in Cusco across a wide range of businesses. In fact it was eaten so quickly we forgot to take a photo. We could not fault it. Full disclosure, we were offered a free drink for this review which is actually fair because reviews take some time to write and our time is worth orders of magnitude more than the free drink. Nothing is inaccurate in this review or swayed by a single, small free drink. Now the constructive criticism which they get because they are close to perfect so are worthy of some advice. 1. Beside the lamb shank, the meals need 20% more protein. If you are out all day walking/hiking around you need a decent meal and we both ate a whole medium pizza after attending and before writing this review. 6ft + males for context. 2. The cocktails are very good, almost perfect but they need to be slightly larger. If you are charging a premium for cocktails then fill the glass and have good size glasses. Daniel's service is very good and he cares, which is rare. Retain focus on the customers quality of experience over transactional benefit and everything else should work out. We would recommend you visit Mare in Cusco and our list of recommendations for consistent food and service is very short.
We had an excellent meal in this small restaurant. Apart from the delicious food that incorporated a lot of interesting Andean ingredients there is also an extensive wine list. Our waiter Leonardo was knowledgeable and recommended a very nice red. Highly recommended.
Probably the tastiest food we had not only in Cusco, but in all of Peru. Great menu with good options, and while the portions aren’t huge, they’re fair for the style of restaurant. The place feels high-end without being pretentious, with a cozy atmosphere, and a very local feel. Most importantly, the food actually delivers on the taste. The downside was the service, which was extremely slow. We had to ask for our drinks several times, my water never arrived, and the washroom didn’t have soap while the garbage bin was overflowing. Amazing food, but the service and overall attention to detail need improvement.
We stumbled across this restaurant for lunch and couldn't have been happier. Education is one of the interesting aspects to this place and the waiter actually takes time to bring out a basket of some of the more interesting ingredients that they cook with. He also brought us a complementary appetizer that was gorgeous, inventive, yummy and plated with style. My partner had the guinea pig which was excellent with a range of items on the plate including a pepper sauce that was to die for I had the Adina Soup which was delicious ad filling. But the highlight was the dessert OXALIS. Never have I tasted such a complexity of flavors that make you taste buds dance! Great presentations and I also loved the handmade plates and bowls....they were interesting and it is nice to see a restaurant not use the standard white serving ware. P.S. The hot chocolate was to die for!
