Food at Victoria is excellent and I would highly recommend trying it. The menu is organized by the historical period of the ingredients origin. I was excited to try the Chupe de Camarón and it did not disappoint. Nicole was great and very helpful with information about the food.

We’ve been in Peru for 4 weeks and this is probably our favourite restaurant to date! It’s in a great central location and the decor is beautiful. We visited at lunchtime and there was a mix of locals and tourists, lending the place a nice buzz. The menu itself is unlike anything I’ve seen before, charting dishes and drinks from the pre-Hispanic to modern era. We ordered the shrimp soup and the stuffed peppers, both of which were absolutely excellent. The drinks are also amazing and super unique - definitely try a cocktail (or two!). The service was a little slow for our taste, but no different from any other restaurant we’ve been at in Peru. 100% would recommend a visit while you’re in Arequipa!

We had a wonderful meal here. Lots of variety and fun cocktails to try! Our server was also so helpful and explained the different dishes to us. You can do tasting menus here but we opted for a la carte.

I visited Victoria Museo Picantería out of curiosity after seeing their beautifully presented rocoto relleno — and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Arequipa. Located right in the historic center near the Plaza de Armas, the place doesn’t look like much from the outside. But once you step inside, it’s a completely different story: a beautifully decorated picantería with great attention to detail and a warm, inviting atmosphere. What stood out immediately was the service. The waitresses are incredibly attentive, fast, and — most impressively — very knowledgeable. They don’t just take your order; they explain the dishes, their origins, and the traditions behind them. It turns the meal into a full cultural experience, not just “going out to eat.” On my first visit, I tried the rocoto relleno with a soltero de queso and a local papaya juice — everything was delicious and very well presented. I enjoyed it so much that I came back a second time with friends to try more dishes, including adobo and triple a la Josefa, along with chicha blanca. Everything was outstanding. The adobo deserves a special mention: you can order it any day (unlike most picanterías where it’s only available on Sundays), and it is clearly made the traditional way with chicha — full of depth and flavor. Served with pan tres puntas, it was simply excellent. Something interesting: local friends told me this place is still more popular with tourists than with Arequipeños, which surprised me given the quality. They also confirmed that the flavors and ingredients are truly authentic and high quality. A small note: portions are slightly smaller and prices a bit higher compared to traditional picanterías. But in my experience, the quality, presentation, and overall experience fully justify it — and we still couldn’t finish everything. They also offer tasting experiences where you can learn about local drinks and traditions, which is a great touch. What we tried (prices): - Torrejitas (vegetarian) – S/ 22.50 - Chicha Blanca (½ L) – S/ 11 - Triple a la Josefa – S/ 68.50 - Adobo – S/ 32.50 - Rocoto Relleno – S/ 38.50 - Soltero de Queso – S/ 22.50 Final verdict: Highly recommended — especially for visitors, but also for locals who want to rediscover Arequipeño cuisine with a more refined and educational touch. The portions may be slightly smaller, but the flavor, quality, and experience are truly exceptional.

Really good traditional food! Shirley was super helpful and kind! She recommended her favorites and she did just great! The alpaca meat was good but… the quinoa that came with it was amazing! I have never had such good quinoa! Absolutely incredible!!!!
