Description

Day 1: Arequipa to Chivay - Cabanaconde Depart from Arequipa and head to the town of Chivay. Travel from 4,850 meters above sea level to Chivay at 3,600 meters. Then, explore the Colca Valley by bicycle along the 'right bank' route, visiting colonial villages not typically included in traditional tours, such as Coporaque (3,575 meters) (main square and church facade), Ichupampa (3,400 meters), and Lari (3,330 meters), whose church is considered the most important in the Colca Valley due to its enormous buttresses. Afterward, cross to the 'left bank' to visit the left side of the Colca Valley and viewpoints such as Antahuilque, Cruz del Cóndor (3,700 meters), and Tapay (3,600 meters). Arrive at the town of Cabanaconde 3300 m. where you will have dinner and spend the night. Day 2: Cabanaconde to the Bottom of the Canyon - Pallcca After breakfast, begin your descent by bicycle inside the Colca canyon from 3300 to 2000 meters above sea level until you reach the lower part of the canyon (the Colca River). This place is known as Palcca. Cross the Colca River by bicycle, then cycle for another 10 minutes to reach the Huaruro River suspension bridge. Leave your bicycles there and cross the Huaruro suspension bridge on foot until you reach a lodge called Llahuar to enjoy the 35-degree Celsius hot springs. After lunch at the hostel, return to the town of Cabanaconde in a 4x4 truck until you reach the city of Arequipa.
