Description
At 7:30 a.m., our Colca Canyon tour begins with passengers being picked up from their respective hotels and then traveling to Chivay. During the journey, you will enjoy views of the stunning scenery, surrounded by high mountains and volcanoes. We will arrive in Chivay at approximately 1:00 p.m., where we will have lunch. Afterward, you will be taken to the local community, where the assigned family will be waiting to welcome us into their home. There, we will participate in a local experience, preparing our dinner using local products and enjoying a pleasant rest in a rustic home. There is also the option to arrange a visit to the community’s thermal baths at an additional cost.
On the second day, at 6:30 a.m., we will have our family breakfast and then continue with the tour to the Condor Viewpoint, with an optional hike along the rim of the canyon to get better views of the canyon and the magical flight of the condors. The months from May to September are the best seasons to see them up close; during the rainy season, you need to be very lucky to spot them. On the way back, we will make a few stops at viewpoints and villages, and once again in Chivay, we will have 1 hour at our leisure for lunch, after which we will return to the city of Arequipa. Estimated arrival time is 5:00 p.m. near the Plaza de Armas. Alternatively, you can also request a transfer from Chivay to Puno for an additional cost of PEN 100 per person; in this case, the estimated arrival time in Puno city is 7:30 PM.
