Description
Begin your day with an early morning pickup from Cusco and drive to Cusipata, passing through small Andean villages and spotting llamas, alpacas, and local farms along the way. Stop for breakfast in Cusipata to fuel up before beginning your hike.
Start your hike from Phulawasipata, the trailhead at about 4,600 meters above sea level. Walk through rugged terrain, encountering steep slopes and open skies. Ascend for about 2 hours, witnessing panoramic views of valleys, mountain ridges, and the snow-capped peaks of Ausangate.
Reach Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain) at about 5,100 meters above sea level, where the colorful mineral stripes will dazzle your eyes. After enjoying the views, photos, and some time to rest at Rainbow Mountain, hike down toward the Red Valley viewpoint. This section offers different colors, unique rock formations, and fewer tourists, making it a perfect spot to appreciate the landscape in peace.
After the hike, return to the community of Cusipata to enjoy a buffet lunch. In the afternoon, drive back to Cusco in your private transportation, arriving around 7:30 PM.
