Description
Meet your guide in the morning at the Plaza de Armas in Puerto Maldonado and begin the journey toward the Madre de Dios River. After a short transfer, board a motorized boat and travel into the rainforest, watching the landscape change as you approach the Tambopata National Reserve. Once inside the reserve, leave the boat and follow a forest trail for approximately 55 minutes toward Sandoval Lake. During the walk, take time to observe the vegetation and listen for the sounds of the jungle. Your guide will help you look for wildlife that may appear along the trail, including monkeys, parrots, and other Amazonian species. At Sandoval Lake, continue the experience from a canoe. Move quietly across the water surrounded by dense rainforest and observe the shoreline for birds, monkeys, black caimans, and, with some luck, giant river otters. Stop for lunch and some time to rest before continuing the wildlife observation around the lake. After completing the lake exploration, return along the forest trail to the river. Board the boat for the journey back to Puerto Maldonado, enjoying the rainforest scenery along the way. The activity is expected to finish in the city at approximately 5:45 PM, depending on local conditions.Includes
