When the gates of the Presbitero Matias Maestro Cemetery shut behind you, the city noise fades and you step into a vast open-air museum of neoclassical mausoleums, where presidents, poets and war heroes rest, and where, since 2015, our guides have led night tours through the ghost stories Lima only whispers about.
Meet our team at the gate at 7:00 PM and follow the lantern route where art, history and legend intertwine with the dark.
Feel the air change in front of the Suicide Pavilion, where paranormal activity is still reported and few visitors dare to linger.
Wander the oldest quarters, past the standing tomb of a poet buried upright, and listen for footsteps that are not your own.
Pause at the angelitos, the children's burials that locals still visit to ask for miracles, then cross the Avenue of the Dead, uncover the traces of witchcraft rituals, and step into the imposing Crypt of the Heroes, where the fallen of the War of the Pacific lie in silence.
