Description

Your professional guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco between 4:00 and 4:30 in the morning. Make the 3-hour trip to Pacchanta well wrapped up with an extra sweater, jacket, hat, and gloves, as morning temperatures in the area range from 5 to 9°C. Stop for breakfast and to buy anything you've forgotten in Cusco, like water and snacks. From Pacchanta, enjoy your first views of the magnificent Apu Ausangate mountains, which rise 6,384 meters above sea level. Take some time to pack your backpack and then start the hike to the first of the Ausangate lakes. Walk at a comfortable pace on the steep terrain with a small group and an attentive guide who will ensure your safety. The hiking trail covers about 13 kilometers and lasts about 4.5 hours, passing through varied terrain and changing altitudes, with beautiful views of several lakes along the way. The highest point of the hike is 4620 meters above sea level. Then head back to Pacchanta, where a local lunch awaits to recharge your batteries. When you've recovered, hop into the nearby hot springs and relax while taking in the amazing views of the surrounding highlands. You'll be back in Cusco between 6 and 7 in the evening.
