Description
Your professional guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco’s historical center between 3:30 AM and 4:00 AM. After a 2-hour drive, you stop in Mollepata for breakfast and to pick up water and snacks.
Then, continue for another hour to Soraypampa, a high mountain plateau at 4,200 meters altitude. Here you will see the impressive peaks of Apu Salkantay (6,230 meters) and Humantay (5,250 meters).
After preparing your day pack, begin the 2-hour uphill trek to Humantay Lake. The ascent is steep but manageable, with your guide pacing the group. Once at the lake, you can take an optional short climb to either side for panoramic views.
The return trek is easier, descending for about an hour back to Soraypampa. From there, private transportation takes you to Mollepata where a local buffet lunch awaits. After lunch, return to Cusco, arriving between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM near Plaza de Armas.
