Description

Embark on a full-day tour of the Sacred Valley, starting with a hotel pick-up in Cusco. Admire the breathtaking views of the mountains as you journey towards the Sacred Valley. Visit the Mirador de Taray (optional depending on time), the ancient Inca site of Pisac, and the town of Ollantaytambo. Begin your adventure with a scenic 45-minute bus ride through the mountains. Stop at the Mirador de Taray, a breathtaking viewpoint where you can capture stunning panoramic photos of the valley below. Take your time to soak in the beauty for 10 minutes before continuing your tour. Next, head to the ancient Inca site of Pisac. Along the way, witness awe-inspiring temples, residences, altars, intricate channels, carvings, and even tunnels. Be sure to keep an eye out for the famous Intiwatana, a sundial stone, and the largest known Inca cemetery, boasting over 2,000 tombs. After visiting the Pisaq town by bus, drive for about an hour to Urubamba for lunch. Then, take a short drive to Ollantaytambo, an important Inca town surrounded by sacred mountains. Ollantaytambo served as a strategic military center, agricultural hub, and religious center. The Sun Temple, perched on a hilltop, showcases impressive architecture, carvings, farming terraces, and interconnected stone steps. Notably, this site is one of the few places where the Spanish lost a battle during the conquest. On the way back to Cusco, visit a beautiful colonial church and the archaeological site of Chinchero, with its impressive terraces and altars. Stop at a weaving workshop, where local people who continue to practice Quechua traditions will show you how they obtain natural dyes from plants. Have the chance to take pictures dressed in traditional Andean clothing. Your tour concludes at approximately 6:30 PM, followed by a 1-hour bus ride back to Cusco.
