About the Activity Discover the high-altitude landscapes of the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve on a full-day excursion from Arequipa. Your journey begins early in the morning with pickup from selected hotels in central Arequipa or a designated meeting point. Travel through the Andean countryside toward Chiguata, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding volcanic landscape. Continue through the highlands toward the Pichu Pichu area, taking in the changing scenery and natural surroundings along the route. As you enter the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, admire its wide-open landscapes, wetlands, lagoons, and volcanic formations. Depending on the season and local conditions, the reserve offers opportunities to see native Andean wildlife such as vicuñas, llamas and alpacas, as well as characteristic vegetation including queñuales and yaretas. The route continues to the Salinas salt flats, where the contrast between the white salt formations, mountain scenery, and surrounding highlands creates one of the most distinctive landscapes in the area. You will also visit the Lojen volcanic area before continuing to natural thermal waters, where you can enjoy some free time to relax and, if conditions permit, take a bath. After the visits, return to Arequipa and finish the experience at the designated drop-off point.
