Excursion to the islands of Uros-Titino and Taquile

Peru

We'll visit the Uros-Titino Islands (not very touristy) and Taquile Island on a small/medium-sized boat belonging to the local community, whose members will accompany you during the excursion.

Highlights

  • Tours with small groups of 2 to 6 people.
  • Excursions start in local communities, which are the direct beneficiaries.
  • Visit to Uros Titino, which is less touristy and more authentic.
  • Captain-guides do not charge commissions to the Uros, as large agencies do.

Description

We'll start the excursion from the community of Llachón (Capachica Peninsula), a strategic location for excursions.

We'll board a boat belonging to the local residents, where the captain will welcome us and we'll set off on the trip to Uros-Titino Island.

The trip from the community of Llachón to Uros-Titino Island takes 40 minutes. Upon arrival, we'll be welcomed by a local Uros-Titino family, who will explain the activities, ways of life, and construction of their islands. They'll then show us their houses and the products they offer to visitors.

We will then set off for Taquile Island, world-famous for its textile art, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The journey takes 1 hour. We will be able to visit the craft center located in Taquile Square, and we will also have the opportunity to see traditional music performed by the island's locals. We'll be able to savor the island's cuisine at its family-run or community restaurants.

Finally, we'll head back to the Llachón community, where the captain will drop you off at the jetty of your choice.
