From Cusco: Ausangate Horseback Adventure to Upis Lake

Description

Our professional guide and our tourist transport will pick you up directly from your hotel at 4:30 a.m. in Cusco. We will travel south through the Vilcanota Valley, passing beautiful Andean landscapes and traditional villages until we reach the community of Upis, located at the foot of the impressive Ausangate mountain (6,372 m / 20,900 ft). Upon arrival in Upis (4,250 m / 13,943 ft), we will have some time to rest, use the restrooms, and get ready for the activity. Here we will meet the muleteers and our horses. We start the horseback ride to Upis Lagoon, following a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains, alpacas, and llamas, with spectacular views of the Ausangate snow-capped mountain. The ride is gentle and progressive, perfect to enjoy the scenery at a relaxed pace. After approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of riding, we arrive at Upis Lagoon (4,400 m / 14,435 ft), a stunning turquoise-colored lake located right in front of the Ausangate mountain. Here we will have enough time to enjoy the landscape, take photos, walk around the lagoon, and relax in this unique natural setting. After enjoying our time at the lagoon, we start the horseback ride back to Upis along the same route, enjoying the Andean scenery once again. Back in Upis, we will enjoy a lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, those who wish can optionally visit the Upis hot springs, perfect for relaxing the muscles after the ride. Finally, we return by our tourist transport to Cusco, arriving at approximately 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
