Description

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Jungle Lodge – Caiman Area
Arrive in Puerto Maldonado and meet your guide at the airport or bus station. Board a motorized riverboat and navigate the Madre de Dios River for about one hour to reach the Tambopata reserve area.

Upon arrival, you will be introduced to the lodge grounds and shown your bungalow. After lunch prepared with local ingredients, take a guided tour to Monkey Island to observe native monkeys and learn about jungle plants.

In the evening, embark on a Caiman Safari along the river to spot nocturnal wildlife. Return to the lodge for dinner and plan the next day’s activities with your guide.

Day 2: Lodge – Sandoval Lake and Jungle Hike
Start early with breakfast before hiking to Sandoval Lake inside Tambopata National Reserve. Observe diverse animals such as snakes, howler monkeys, and numerous bird species.

At the lake, take a small rowing boat to search for giant otters and other wildlife including caimans, piranhas, tapirs, turtles, herons, and cormorants.

Return to the lodge to enjoy the jungle sunset views. After dark, join a nocturnal wildlife walk to encounter insects, capybaras, and other night-active animals.

End the day with dinner at the lodge.

Day 3: Jungle Exploration – Return to Puerto Maldonado
After breakfast, explore nearby jungle trails and canopy lookouts where you may spot snakes, parrots, and monkeys.

Later, board a boat transfer back to Puerto Maldonado for your departure.
