Overnight in Chivay.
Day 2: Cruz del Condor – Colca Valley Villages – Arequipa
After breakfast at your hotel, we’ll pick you up between 6:30 and 6:50 AM and begin the journey to the Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint. Along the way, we’ll make brief stops in Yanque, Achoma Viewpoint, and Choquetico, where you’ll see traditional villages, ancient agricultural terraces, hanging tombs, and stone carvings etched into the rock.
At Cruz del Cóndor, we’ll spend approximately 1 hour taking in the impressive views of Colca Canyon and watching Andean condors soar above the valley.
Optional: If you’d like, you can take a scenic 35-minute walk along the edge of the canyon to the Cruz del Cura Viewpoint.
On the way back to Chivay, we’ll stop at the Wayrapunku and Antahuilque viewpoints, where you’ll enjoy different perspectives of the valley and its extensive agricultural terraces. We’ll then continue to the traditional town of Maca, where you can visit the main square and the Church of Santa Ana. If you wish, you can also try a Colca Sour, a local cocktail made with sancayo, a fruit native to the area.
Back in Chivay, you’ll enjoy a buffet lunch prepared with local ingredients, with approximately one hour before continuing the journey.
At 1:00 p.m., we will depart for Arequipa, arriving at approximately 5:00 p.m.
