Description

Day 1: Cusco | Ocongate – Upis – Arapa Pass – Yana Qocha Begin your 5-day Ausangate and Rainbow Mountain adventure with hotel pickup in Cusco. Travel approximately 3.5 hours to Upis, passing through Andean villages and stopping in Tinke. Enjoy breakfast with views of Ausangate before starting the trek through fields, grasslands, streams, and traditional communities. After lunch, ascend to Arapa Pass, enjoying spectacular mountain and glacier views. Descend to Yana Qocha campsite for dinner and overnight camping. Day 2: Yana Qocha – Hatun Puka Qocha – Puka Pass – Ananta – Qomer Qocha After breakfast, hike through valleys with glacial lakes, waterfalls, llamas, and alpacas. Pass Yana Qocha and Puka Qocha before ascending to Puka Pass, offering panoramic views of glaciers, turquoise lakes, red valleys, and snow-capped peaks. Continue to Ananta for lunch, then climb to Warmisaya Pass for your first view of Rainbow Mountain. Descend to Qomer Qocha campsite for dinner and rest. Day 3: Qomer Qocha – Rainbow Mountain – Ananta Pass – Ausangate Qocha Wake before dawn and hike to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca). Reach the viewpoint early to enjoy its colorful mineral formations before the crowds arrive. Your guide will explain the geological history of this unique landscape. After taking photos, descend to camp for lunch. Continue hiking through colorful mountain slopes to Ausangate Qocha, your third campsite. Day 4: Ausangate Qocha – Palomani Pass – Sorapata – Jampa Camp After breakfast, begin a challenging ascent toward Palomani Pass, the highest point of the trek. Enjoy impressive views of Ausangate, glaciers, valleys, and red mountains. Descend through remote landscapes where llamas and alpacas graze. After lunch, continue through rugged terrain and Andean wetlands until reaching Jampa Base Camp. Relax with hot drinks and prepare for the final day. Day 5: Jampa Camp – Jampa Pass – Pacchanta Hot Springs – Tinke – Cusco Begin with an ascent to Jampa Pass, enjoying panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and valleys. Descend toward Qomercocha (Green Lake) and continue to Pacchanta, a traditional Andean village. Enjoy your final lunch and relax in the natural hot springs surrounded by spectacular mountains. Finally, board private transportation back to Cusco for hotel drop-off.
