Itinerary
Excursion to the Salt Mines of Maras and Moray
- The excursion begins with the pick up at your hotel, and then we will take the transportation to the town of Maras, in the Sacred Valley. Along the way, we will enjoy views of snow-capped mountains, lagoons, and corn and potato fields.
- The first stop will be in Moray, an ancient agricultural laboratory, where we will see circular Andean terraces, carved deep into the earth in the shape of a bowl. These terraces were used to adapt crops to different climates.
- Then, we will head to the Maras salt pans. Upon arrival, we will observe more than 3500 salt ponds, carefully carved into the mountainside and fed by water channels.
- On the way back to Cusco, we will pass through the picturesque village of Chinchero, known as the cradle of the rainbow, famous for preserving the traditional Andean weaving technique.
