Description

Day 1: Cusco – Alqatari – Cordillera del Ausangate – Ananta Camp Start your adventure with a hotel pickup in Cusco at 4:00 AM. Travel in a private vehicle for approximately 3 hours to the Alqatari community, where a hot breakfast prepared by your cook awaits. After breakfast, begin your hike, passing through high Andean plains, local homes, and llama and alpaca grazing areas. The trail gradually ascends to the Pucacocha Pass, offering open views of the Ausangate Glacier, the highest mountain in the Cusco region (6,370 m). Next, descend to the Ananta camp, located at over 4,700 m. Enjoy lunch in a dining tent, then spend the afternoon resting, walking around, or simply enjoying the scenery. At the end of the day, your team sets up the tents and serves dinner. In favorable weather conditions, you can see a clear night sky typical of the high Andes. Day 2: Ananta – Warmi Saya Pass – Rainbow Mountain – Red Valley – Cusco Begin the second day early with coca tea or coffee served in your tent, followed by an energizing breakfast. Start the ascent to the Warmi Saya Pass (5,150 m), the highest point of the trek. From the pass, descend to a circular lagoon and continue along a trail that skirts two lagoons until you reach Vinicunca, the Rainbow Mountain. Enjoy plenty of time to explore the area, take photos, and listen to your guide’s explanations about the geological formation of the site. Next, continue your hike to the Red Valley, a less traveled area characterized by its reddish hues and open landscapes. The final descent takes approximately 2 hours. After the hike, enjoy a hot lunch before boarding your private transport back to Cusco, a journey of approximately 3.5 hours. Arrive around 3:00 PM.
