Description
Your adventure begins very early at 4:30 am with hotel pick-up in Cusco. As the city slowly wakes up, we head south into the heart of the Andes, where every kilometer reveals deeper valleys, traditional villages, and stunning mountain scenery that builds excitement for what is coming next.
We arrive in Cusipata, where you will enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast with a wide variety of options, including vegetarian, vegan, and special dietary choices. This is the perfect moment to relax, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and prepare for the hike ahead.
After breakfast, we continue for approximately 1.5 hours through spectacular Andean landscapes, passing the traditional town of Marangani. This route is the fastest and most scenic way to reach Pallay Punchu, allowing us to arrive early and enjoy the mountain at its best.
We reach the starting point of the hike, where the real adventure begins. From here, we start a short but rewarding 30-minute uphill walk to the first viewpoint. Every step brings more anticipation and more incredible views.
At the first viewpoint, you will be greeted by stunning panoramas of Lake Layo and the surrounding mountains. The landscape is raw, powerful, and completely unforgettable.
We continue ascending to the second viewpoint, where the scenery becomes even more dramatic. The colors of the mountains intensify, and the vastness of the Andes opens up in front of you.
Finally, we reach the highest viewpoint of Pallay Punchu. This is the highlight of the entire journey. Here you will witness the iconic “Andean poncho” formation, a natural masterpiece of layered colors and sharp ridges that looks almost unreal. It is a moment of pure awe and connection with nature.
After enjoying this incredible view, we begin our descent via a different scenic trail, completing a circular route. The downhill hike takes approximately 30 minutes, making the total trekking time around 1.5 to 2 hours.
We return to Cusipata to enjoy a well-deserved buffet lunch, surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere of the Andes, the perfect ending to your mountain adventure.
Finally, we return to Cusco and drop you off near Regocijos Square, just one block from the main Plaza de Armas, marking the end of an extraordinary day filled with adventure, landscapes, and unforgettable memories.
