Description

Turn your stopover at the Port of Salaverry into a tour of two of the most fascinating civilizations in northern Peru. This excursion for cruise ship passengers combines archaeology, history, and ancient architecture on a route through the main vestiges of the Moche and Chimú cultures.

The experience starts at approximately 8:30 AM. After meeting our team, you'll board the tourist transportation to start the route to the Huacas of the Sun and the Moon. Here, you'll discover how the Moche culture built large adobe structures and learn about the ceremonial importance of the Huaca de la Luna and the role played by the Huaca del Sol.

The experience continues at the Huacas de Moche Museum, where you can see ceramics, archaeological pieces, and various objects found in the area, complementing what you learned during the visit.

Our next stop will be the Huaca Arco Iris (Rainbow Temple) or El Dragón (The Dragon), which belongs to the Chimú culture. Walk along its platforms and get a close look at its distinctive adobe reliefs while your guide shares details about its history and significance.

We'll then arrive in Chan Chan, the ancient Chimú capital and one of the great archaeological treasures of northern Peru. Walk among squares, courtyards, passageways, and adobe walls as you discover how this extraordinary ancient city was organized.

Throughout the experience, you'll have a Spanish and English-speaking tour guide, who will accompany you to discover the history behind each site.
