ITINERARY DAY 01: Journey through cloud forests and enchanting hiking trails Your guide will pick you up at the agreed meeting point at 05:30a. m. Then we will embark on a trip along winding Andean roads, passing through picturesque hamlets and villages until we reach Ajanaco, the gateway to the jungle at 3,500 meters above sea level. As we descend the winding paths into the cloud forest, we will be surrounded by lush vegetation, including orchids, heliconias and ferns. Keep an eye out for the vibrant wildlife that inhabits this region, such as the Andean cock-of-the-rock, umbrella bird, trogon, quetzal or orioles. Finally, we will arrive at our lodge, where you can relax and rejuvenate after an exciting day of exploring. Meals included: Breakfast en route, lunch in the cloud forest and dinner at the lodge. DAY 02: Discover Atalaya: exploring the mystical Machuwasi lagoon and fascinating night walks After breakfast, we will embark on a short walk to observe a wide variety of birds and monkeys in their natural habitat. Next, we'll take a one-hour bus ride to the port of Atalaya, where we'll board a boat for a 30-minute ride to our lodge. Along the way, you can choose to take a refreshing dip in the river or enjoy a rejuvenating mud bath. After lunch, we will visit the captivating Machuwasi lagoon and sail on a raft, where we can encounter shanshos, monkeys, reptiles, dwarf caimans, capybaras, tapirs and other fascinating creatures. After dinner, we will embark on an exciting night hike to further explore the natural wonders of the region. We will spend the night in our comfortable lodge, surrounded by the beauty of the Amazon. DAY 03: Parrot Clay Lick, Enriching Walks, Watchtower Exploration and Return Trip to Cusco When the sun rises, we will embark on a captivating journey to the parrot clay lick, where we will witness the magnificent spectacle of these vibrant birds feasting on the nutrient-rich wall. After a delicious breakfast, we will return to Atalaya by boat, before getting into the van to begin the trip back to Cusco. Along the way, we will encounter enchanting sights such as hummingbirds, orchids, waterfalls, and possibly other species of birds or even monkeys. Leaving the green jungle behind, we will cross the impressive Andean peaks, culminating with our arrival in Cusco between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Meals include breakfast at the lodge and lunch in the middle of the cloud forest.
