Description

The itinerary will begin with pickup from your hotel in Arequipa at the time you prefer. From there, we will head along the Uchumayo road until we reach the ashlar stone quarries, where we will enjoy a guided tour to learn about the art of stonemasons, a profession that dates back to ancient times. These stones are characterized by requiring exclusive manual work, since otherwise they would break. The stonemasons are dedicated to carving the stone to create the ashlars that are used in the typical constructions of this region of Peru. Did you know that this material originates from the lava of the volcanoes that surround Arequipa? Then, we will walk for approximately thirty minutes until we reach the next destination: the Culebrillas Canyon, an impressive gorge sculpted by nature and the passage of water. Here, we will undertake a walk between its imposing walls between 15 and 20 meters high and you will have the opportunity to capture excellent photographs. In addition, we can contemplate the ancient petroglyphs, symbols engraved in the rock whose meaning remains an enigma. After four hours of exciting exploration, we will return to the center of Arequipa. The tour will conclude near the Plaza de Armas.
