Description

Day 1: Cusco - Tinki - Upis We will pick you up from the meeting point at 5:00 a.m. to begin our rural adventure and drive for 3 hours, in our private transportation, to the town of Upis. When we arrive at the small town, we will introduce you to the rest of your hiking team made up of cooks and horsemen. Then we will set off and begin walking along a wide ascending path to the northeast face of the impressive Ausangate mountain. After three hours of walking between farm fields and beautiful traditional houses on a gentle climb, we will arrive at the Upis camp where we will enjoy lunch. Later, we will have the option to walk a two-hour round trip to Wayna Ausangate Lake. Happy hour (tea time) will be ready upon your return and then dinner. We will camp surrounded by the sacred mountains of Ausangate who will take care of you while you sleep. Day 2: Upis - Arapa Pass - Hatun Pukaqocha We will begin our walk today for two and a half hours through a beautiful high Andean valley towards the Arapa pass with the spectacular Ausangate glacier. Next, we will descend to discover the beautiful crystalline lagoon of Yanacocha (black lagoon); Then, we will follow the trail for another hour until we reach Hatun Pucacocha, at this point we will have a delicious lunch. We will then arrive at our camp at Hatun Pukaqocha (4,500 m / 14,764 ft). Later, we will explore the surrounding lagoons and relax with a delicious mate. Day 3: Hatun Pukaqocha- Puka Pass - Anantapata - Warmisaya - Surineqocha After a hearty breakfast, we will climb for 2 hours to the Puka Pass (4,870 m / 15,978 ft). Along the route this morning, you'll be amazed by stunning views of glaciers and deep green valleys. You will already be able to see the beginning of the Rainbow Mountain Range with its striking stripes of color from this opening. We will then begin with a gradual descent for an hour and a half to our lunch spot, before continuing with a 2-hour ascent to Warmisaya (4,985 m / 16,355 ft). We will only have to descend for an hour to the Surineqocha lagoon, where our night camp will be waiting for us. DAY 4: After a delicious breakfast at 4:00 a.m., we will head towards Rainbow Mountain to contemplate this colorful valley illuminated by the golden light of dawn. Your guide will explain in detail why this mountain has such unique colors and why it was only 'discovered' in recent years. After enjoying this jewel of the Peruvian Andes, we will begin our walk towards the spectacular Red Valley. Finally, we will make a two-hour descent through ancient Andean communities and herds of llamas. After a delicious last lunch, a bus will be waiting to take you back to your accommodation in Cusco.
