Description
Explore the historical treasures of Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, on a guided tour entirely in Portuguese. Perfect for those who want to understand the grand fusion of Inca and Spanish cultures, this half-day tour combines history, landscapes, and spirituality in a unique experience.
The tour kicks off at the Temple of the Sun – Qorikancha, a meeting point and one of the holiest places in the ancient empire. Here, your guide will explain how the site was dedicated to the worship of the Sun and Inca deities before the Spanish turned it into a convent. You'll be able to take a close look at the impressive polished stone walls, an example of Inca architectural precision.
Then, we'll hop on a comfy vehicle and head to the Inca ruins around Cusco. The first stop will be at Sacsayhuamán, an imposing fortress built with giant stone blocks. The Portuguese-speaking guide will reveal the secrets of its construction and the ceremonial and military role of this place.
We'll continue to Qenqo, a ceremonial center carved into a rock formation, where we'll learn about Inca rituals related to death and fertility. Right after, we'll visit Puka Pukara, an ancient reddish stone fortress that served as a military checkpoint and strategic lookout over the Cusco valley.
We'll end the tour in Tambomachay, known as the Inca Baths. There, you'll see aqueducts and crystal-clear water fountains that flow continuously, a symbol of the Inca devotion to water and nature.
Throughout the tour, an experienced and friendly guide will lead the tour in Portuguese, in a small group of up to 10 travelers, ensuring comfort and personalized attention. At the end, we'll head back to the meeting point, with free time to continue exploring Cusco on your own.
