Description
Your adventure begins early with a 4:30 a.m. pickup from your hotel in central Cusco. We’ll drive about 2 hours to Mollepata, a quaint town in the Anta province, where you’ll enjoy a warm, traditional Andean breakfast to fuel up for the day ahead.
From Mollepata, we continue by car to Soraypampa (3,900 m), the starting point of our hike. The trail to Humantay Lake is approximately 1.5–2 hours at a steady pace, winding through breathtaking landscapes. Along the way, your guide will share fascinating stories about the local environment, flora and fauna, and the traditions of Andean communities, making the journey both scenic and enriching.
When you reach Humantay Lake (4,200 m), you’ll be captivated by its brilliant turquoise waters, perfectly framed by snow-capped peaks. Take your time to relax, capture photos, and participate in a short Andean ritual to honor the mountain spirits—a unique cultural experience that connects you with the sacred energy of the Andes.
After soaking in the beauty of the lake, we’ll descend back to Soraypampa and drive to Mollepata for a delicious buffet lunch. Here you can savor local dishes and share your experiences before heading back to Cusco. We aim to arrive around 5:30 p.m., with drop-off near the Plaza de Armas.
This full-day excursion combines adventure, stunning high-Andean scenery, and meaningful cultural insights. Whether you’re a nature lover, a photography enthusiast, or simply seeking an unforgettable experience in Peru, the Humantay Lake trek offers memories that will stay with you long after the journey ends.
