'Machu Picchu, where the gods speak in silence and nature sings in harmony' we leave the city of Cuzco. Marvel at the views of the mountains on a train to Aguas Calientes. We board a comfortable bus to Machu Picchu and begin a guided tour. We start by picking you up from your hotel in Cuzco where we depart for a trip to Ollantaytambo station and then board the train that will take you to Aguas Calientes. This is the closest town to Machu Picchu. Where you will enjoy a spectacular train ride through the incredible Andean landscapes. The expeditiun or voyager train, has spacious seats and large windows that will let you admire the wonderful views of the jungle and mountains. We line up to board the bus that will take us to Machu Picchu for 30 minutes. It is believed that the Inca emperor Pachacute built the city of Machu Picchu in the 1450s as a vacation retreat. In less than a century, the city was abandoned after the Spanish conquest. The Spanish never found it, so it was spared the destruction suffered by other Inca sites. Instead, the jungle gradually engulfed it until it was hidden. Take a guided tour of the site that explains the origins of this imposing citadel and its most important sites such as the great Main Plaza, the Royal Residence, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the sacred Sundial and the cemetery. After the tour, you will return to Aguas Calientes where you will have free time to explore the city or enjoy an optional lunch. After spending time in the city, you will return to Aguas Calientes station to board the train back to Ollantaytambo station, from where you will be taken back to Cusco.
