Description

Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco. Head to the Sacred Valley, stopping at Awanacancha, a camelid and textile center. Feed llamas and alpacas and learn about traditional Andean weaving. Continue to Pisac, where you’ll visit the impressive Inca archaeological complex, famous for its agricultural terraces built into the mountainside. Explore the ruins with your guide and enjoy panoramic views of the valley. If time permits, visit the Pisac craft market to browse or purchase local products. Travel along the Urubamba River to the town of Urubamba, where you’ll enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant. Sample various specialties of Peruvian cuisine while recharging your energy. After lunch, head to the picturesque Inca village of Ollantaytambo. Visit the majestic fortress of Ollantaytambo, an archaeological complex of huge stone terraces located on the mountainside. Climb the steps of this fortress to explore temples and viewpoints, while your guide shares the rich history of the site and explains the impressive engineering used in its construction. Stroll through the narrow cobblestone streets of Ollantaytambo, which still preserve the original Inca urban structure, and feel the lively atmosphere of this “open-air museum.” At the end of the tour, return to Cusco by bus, with arrival at your hotel in the early evening. If you plan to continue your journey by train to Machu Picchu on the same day, you can end the tour in Ollantaytambo, where the trains depart, instead of returning to Cusco.
