Description
DAY 1: AREQUIPA - CHIVAY - CRUZ DEL CÓNDOR VIEWPOINT - DESCENT TO THE CANYON
The adventure kicks off very early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel. We'll embark on a fascinating journey through Andean landscapes until we reach the picturesque village of Chivay, where we'll enjoy a delicious breakfast to recharge our batteries.
We'll continue to the iconic Mirador Cruz del Cóndor, one of the most spectacular points of the tour. Here you'll have the unique opportunity to observe the majestic flight of the Andean condor, the largest flying bird in the world, gliding over the depths of the canyon with the morning thermal currents.
After this incredible sighting, we'll start our trek down to the heart of the canyon. For about seven hours of hiking, you'll descend along zigzagging trails surrounded by pre-Inca terraces, native vegetation, and breathtaking panoramic views. We'll arrive at our accommodation at the bottom of the canyon, where we'll spend the night surrounded by nature and tranquility.
DAY 2: CANYON EXPLORATION - THERMAL BATHS - RETURN TO AREQUIPA
We'll wake up early to take advantage of the cool morning air and continue exploring the interior of the canyon. We'll take a three-hour hike to discover hidden corners, small oases, waterfalls, and the daily life of the local communities that inhabit these depths.
Later, we'll head back up to Chivay, where you'll have free time to relax in the soothing thermal baths of medicinal waters, perfect for regaining your strength after the trek.
The trip back to Arequipa will be just as spectacular. We'll make strategic stops at the Mirador de Volcanes, where you can see an impressive chain of snow-capped volcanoes, and we'll cross the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, home to vicuñas, alpacas, and flamingos in their natural habitat.
Finally, we'll arrive in Arequipa in the afternoon, with a drop-off near the Plaza de Armas, leaving you with unforgettable memories of this adventure in one of the deepest canyons in the world.
