Description

Enjoy a wonderful tour through the north of Peru, starting early in the morning to explore our destinations to the fullest. 05:00 hrs. Pick up at accommodation and departure to Cajabamba. 08:00 hrs. Arrival to Cajabamba. Breakfast (At passenger's expense). Continuation of the trip to the city of Huamachuco. 10:30 a.m. Arrival to Huamachuco city, transfer to Sausacocha Lagoon, located 12 km. from Huamachuco. 11:00 a.m. Arrival and visit to the Sausacocha Lagoon 'The Lagoon that never dries', its approximate perimeter is 4 km. square, varying its depth from 1.5 to 12 mts. in the shore and center respectively. Its waters are bluish-black in color and cold in temperature; due to its depth it is possible to navigate in small boats and it is suitable for fish farming. Around the lagoon there are immense green areas ideal for camping and ecotourism activities. 12:30 hrs. Lunch (at the passenger's expense) and return to Huamachuco. 14:30 hrs. Arrival to Huamachuco, continuation to the archaeological complex of Wiracochapampa. 14:30 hrs. Visit to the archaeological remains of Wiracochapampa, which means 'Pampa del Señor o Caballero', some call it 'Pampa de los Dioses', this citadel dates from 600 A.D.; it is located in the plains of the place that bears his name, 3 km. These ruins are an important archaeological legacy of the Wari culture, although initially it was believed that they belonged to the Inca culture; the affirmation of its origin is supported in the studies of the Peruvian anthropologist, archaeologist and educator Luis Guillermo Lumbreras Salcedo (Ayacucho, July 29, 1936), made to the ceramic remains found, as well as the same architectural structures of the enclosure; at a spatial level it can be observed evidences of having been an Administrative Center of the Wari culture, in him it is observed a construction of trapezoidal form that occupy an area whose measures of base are of 581 mt. by 574 mt, In this there is an internal division caused by the presence of walls of approximately two meters high (although some can reach 20 mt.), within this primary space can be seen different buildings such as squares and courtyards where the careful organization and internal distribution stands out. 16:00 hrs. Return trip to Cajamarca. 21:30 hrs. Arrival and return to the lodging in Cajamarca.
