Start early in Cusco and travel to Ollantaytambo, where you’ll board the train to Km 104, the beginning of your hike. The trail climbs gently through cloud forests, mountain views, waterfalls, orchids, and ancient stairways. One of the highlights is Wiñay Wayna, an impressive archaeological complex where your guide will share the history behind its terraces and temples. Continue toward the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) for your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu an emotional moment for many hikers.
