Description

Your tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation in central Cusco, or a nearby meeting point, between 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM. First, you'll travel to Chinchero, a small town known for its long tradition of textile weaving. Here, you'll see various textiles woven using traditional Incan techniques, visit the first archaeological site, and explore a beautiful old church located near the center. Next, you'll visit Moray to see the agricultural terraces built along the hillsides. These terraces were constructed by the Incas to grow a variety of crops on the mountain terrain. Nearby, at Maras, there are over 5,000 salt ponds used by the Incas for salt extraction, which helped preserve their foods for long periods. This natural spring is still in use today. After learning about Incan agricultural techniques, you'll head to Urubamba, the capital of the Sacred Valley, for a buffet lunch included. After lunch, you will board a bus to the historic town of Ollantaytambo. There, you'll ascend more than 200 steps to explore the ancient terraced fortress overlooking the town, a significant defensive site during the Inca era. After the guided tour, the tour concludes around 4:00 PM, giving you the flexibility to continue exploring on your own or from Ollantaytambo, you can visit the town or take a train to Aguas Calientes on your own, depending on your plans.
