Description

After a convenient pickup at the meeting point in Iquitos, head directly to Nauta to board a boat used for the day's navigation. To venture into the jungle, navigate a huge tributary of the Amazon River, the Marañón River. Contemplate the vast nature that surrounds you as you approach the starting point of your jungle hike. Once you arrive at one of the best places in the jungle to observe poisonous frogs, disembark from the boat. The frogs themselves are tiny, the largest of which grows only up to 5 cm long, but what they lack in size, they make up for in their vivid color and deadly poison. They are not found throughout the Amazon, but strictly in certain small habitats that you will visit throughout the day. As you walk through the jungle, your expert guide will take you to the best places to spot frogs, but keep your eyes wide open to see other species that inhabit this vibrant ecosystem, such as anacondas, sloths, and unique insects. Along the way, enjoy a delicious country lunch and meet some indigenous people of the Amazon River. After a full day of exploration, head back down the river to be dropped off in Iquitos.
