Maria Reiche Museum Arriving in Nazca, the first stop is the Maria Reiche Museum. Here, you’ll learn about Maria Reiche, the German mathematician and archaeologist who dedicated her life to studying and preserving the Nazca Lines. The museum provides fascinating insights into the significance of these ancient geoglyphs, their possible astronomical meanings, and the groundbreaking work of Reiche in protecting them. Nazca Lines Viewpoint (Mirador) Next, you’ll visit the Nazca Lines Viewpoint where you can observe some of the most iconic figures of the geoglyphs, including the Tree and Hands. These giant figures, created between 500 B.C. and 500 A.D., are a true mystery of the ancient world. Their purpose remains unknown, and their sheer scale can only be appreciated from a height. Cantalloc Aqueducts Continue to the Cantalloc Aqueducts, an extraordinary system of subterranean channels built by the Nazca civilization. These aqueducts were used for irrigation and are still functioning today, providing water to the desert.
