Description

Delve into the untouched Tambopata National Reserve, home to an amazing variety of wildlife. Explore the vast Sandoval Lake, famous for its biodiversity and giant otters. Our expert tour guides will lead you along jungle trails, revealing the secrets of the jungle, and you will have the opportunity to observe macaws and parrots in their natural habitat. This exciting adventure combines wildlife viewing, action, and a true Amazon experience, including a visit to 'Monkey Island' and a search for caimans on the banks of the Madre de Dios River. Day 1: Upon arrival at the airport or bus station, you will be met and transferred to the lodge office, where you will receive key information about the tour. From there, we will head to the port to take a boat for a one-hour ride to our lodge, where you will be welcomed with a refreshing local fruit juice. After settling into your rooms, we will begin a two-hour guided walk through the rainforest, accompanied by an expert local guide. Along the way, we will see ancient trees and a wide variety of wildlife, including toucans, parrots, monkeys, snakes, and butterflies. This hike will immerse us in the magic of the Amazon rainforest within the Tambopata National Reserve, a protected area of 278,000 hectares. After lunch, we will head to Monkey Island, located across the Madre de Dios River, where we will see different species of monkeys such as brown capuchins, squirrel monkeys, saddleback tamarins, and white capuchins. Upon returning to the lodge, we will go on a nighttime activity in search of caimans along the Madre de Dios River. With luck, we will spot the capybara, the world's largest rodent. For this activity, it will be necessary to bring a flashlight. After the search, we will return to the lodge for dinner and rest. Day 2: After an early breakfast, we will take a boat to the entrance of Lake Sandoval. After registering at the checkpoint, we will walk 3 kilometers to the lake, one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve and home to piranhas. Upon arrival at the lake, our tour guide will take us on a rowboat to observe various species of birds and monkeys, such as cormorants, herons, eagles, howler monkeys, tamarins, and sloths. If we are lucky, we may see endangered giant otters or the largest caiman ever recorded, measuring over four meters. Back at the lodge, we will enjoy a typical lunch before heading back to the city.
