Description

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Lodge – Caiman Area Upon your arrival at Puerto Maldonado, often referred to as Peru’s biodiversity capital, your transfer will be ready and waiting at the airport or bus station. Kindly inform us of your arrival time in Puerto Maldonado, allowing us to arrange a smooth pickup from your point of arrival or your hotel. Once the team is assembled, you’ll go to Puerto Capitania, where a motorized riverboat awaits. A picturesque 30-minute journey along the Madre de Dios River will bring you to your Amazon Lodge. There, our adventure staff will extend a warm welcome and provide an introduction to your 10-hectare retreat. Your guide will ensure your bungalow is prepared for a comfortable stay. Should you have preferences regarding your room type, especially if you’re a family or couple, feel free to notify us via email. Your input will aid us in optimizing room arrangements to enhance your experience. As you know yourself with the lodge or opt for some rest, your chef will craft a delightful lunch using locally sourced ingredients. Following this delightful meal, the group will convene to discuss plans for the upcoming afternoon and evening adventures. Day 2: Lodge – Sandoval Lake – Puerto Maldonado You’ll rise early to prepare for an exciting day of hiking and exploration. Your adventure begins with a visit to Tambopata National Reserve, specifically the stunning Sandoval Lake. This reserve is a treasure trove of biodiversity, offering glimpses of various animals such as snakes, howler monkeys, and a myriad of bird species. Arriving at Sandoval Lake, you’ll transition to a smaller rowing boat accompanied by our guide and staff. Together, you’ll embark on a quest to spot giant otters and, with a bit of luck, other fascinating creatures like caimans, piranhas, snakes, tapirs, turtles, cormorants, herons, and a plethora of vibrant birds. Following this adventure, you’ll return to our lodge to savor a hearty breakfast before the boat ride back to Puerto Maldonado. Upon reaching Puerto Capitania, your transport will be ready to take you to your hotel, bus station, or airport (between 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.). Please ensure you’ve collected all your belongings from the lodge or our travel office before departing.
