Description
Uros Floating Islands
The tour kicks off with a pick-up from your hotel at 7:15 a.m., heading to the main pier in Puno. There you'll board our speedy catamaran, where the professional guide and captain will welcome you to start a unique experience on Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world.
Before setting sail, you'll enjoy a folk dance show from Puno on board the catamaran. For about 15 minutes, local dancers will show you the colorful costumes and traditional rhythms of the highlands, creating a festive atmosphere that marks the perfect start to the trip.
Our first stop will be the Uros floating islands (3,812 m above sea level), amazing handmade structures built with the totora plant. You'll meet a local family who'll share their ancestral way of life, traditional fishing techniques, and the secrets of this sacred plant. The Uros now have over 100 floating islands, a living symbol of the lake's culture.
Taquile Island
Then we'll continue sailing for about 2 hours to Taquile Island (3,905 m above sea level), where you'll enjoy a scenic walk among stone arches and agricultural terraces.
In the main village, your guide will introduce you to local families, famous for their textile art, which UNESCO has declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. You'll share a traditional lunch prepared with fresh local products, while enjoying their hospitality, music, and customs.
Before heading back, you'll have some free time to buy authentic handicrafts or just relax and take in the views of Lake Titicaca. Finally, we'll head back to Puno on the fast catamaran, arriving around 4:00 p.m., wrapping up a truly unforgettable day.
