Get ready for an unforgettable 2-day adventure in Huaraz On the first day, we'll check out the amazing Laguna Parón, the biggest lake in the Cordillera Blanca, up at 4185 meters above sea level. Its turquoise waters, surrounded by towering snow-capped mountains like Artesonraju - the inspiration for the Paramount Pictures logo - and the Garcilaso Pyramid, create a perfect landscape to connect with nature and take amazing photos. On the second day, the Nevado Mateo challenge awaits us, with an exciting trek that will take us to over 5000 meters above sea level. Surrounded by glaciers, mountains, and Andean culture, you'll have an extreme and unique experience in the Peruvian Andes.
Day 1 Itinerary - Laguna Parón:
- 6:00 a.m. – We'll leave Huaraz heading north, passing through Jangas, Anta airport, Marcará, Carhuaz, Mancos, and Yungay.
- Arrival in Caraz: stop to enjoy a typical breakfast of the region and check out its main square.
- Arrival at Quebrada Parón. The transport will drop us off 10 minutes from the lagoon. Start a 30-minute hike to the viewpoint.
- Enjoy the turquoise waters of Laguna Parón and the spectacular views of the snow-capped mountains: Pirámide de Garcilaso (5885 m), Chacraraju (6112 m), and Artesonraju (6025 m). Time for photos and some chill time.
- Heading back to Caraz.
- 7:00 p.m. - Arrival in Huaraz.
Day 2 - Nevado Mateo Trekking Adventure:
- 3:00 am – Departure from Huaraz: We head to the Callejón de Huaylas, passing through the village of Carhuaz and taking the detour to the east towards Punta Olímpica.
- Arrival at the Punta Olímpica Tunnel (4736 meters above sea level): Short break for acclimatization and a safety talk. The guide will give you the lowdown on the day and how to use the mountain gear.
- Gear prep: Putting on your helmet, harness, and boots. You'll carry the ice axe and crampons in your backpack until you reach the glacier.
Start of the ascent: Zigzag hike along a well-marked trail, crossing rocky stretches with constant support from the guide.
Arrival at the glacier: The guide will set up the roping system and show you how to use crampons and ice axes safely.
- Final ascent: Enjoy the sunrise and the stunning views of Huascarán Sur and Norte, Chopicalqui, Ulta, Contrahierbas, and the Ulta gorge with its Pacllash and Chacllacocha lagoons.
- Nevado Mateo Summit (about 5140 meters above sea level)A unique natural viewpoint with a stunning view of the Cordillera Blanca and lagoons like Cancaragá and Yanaraju. Time for photos, a break, and enjoying the scenery.
- Head back down the same route: Return to the starting point, always guided and secured.
- We'll be back in the city around 3:00 pm.

Important Information
- Lagun Parón:
- Bring cool clothes for the day and warm ones for the evening.
If you're feeling the altitude sickness, bring some coca leaf or mate.
- Packed lunch (sandwiches, cereals, chocolates, fresh and dried fruits).
- Trekking poles.
- Trekking shoes or boots.
- Cap or hat to keep you cool.
- Sunglasses.
- Bug repellent.
- Water bottle.
Nevado Mateo:
- Head: Hat or Chullo.
- Top (3 layers): long-sleeved polo shirt (polyester cotton), fleece sweater, and down jacket or a thick coat.
Bottom (2 layers): Warmers and trekking pants are best (if you don't have them, you can use drill pants or blue jeans)
Others: 2 pairs of wool gloves, small backpack, sunglasses, sunscreen, thick socks.
