Description

4:00 am: We'll pick you up at your hotel/Airbnb in Cusco. Hop on our comfortable transport and drive for 90 minutes to the Ollantaytambo train station. Note: You can buy breakfast at the Ollantaytambo train station. 5:50 am We board the train to km 104, where the Inca Trail hiking starting point is located. This one-hour train ride lets you take in the fascinating scenery along the sacred Vilcanota River. Note: If you're staying in Ollantaytambo or Urubamba, we also pick you up from your Inca Trail hotel at 7:20 a.m. Once we reach kilometer 104, we'll get off the train and walk across the bridge over the Urubamba River to the checkpoint. We'll check passports and Inca Trail permits, and then we'll visit Chachabamba, a charming Inca site with water channels, fountains, and more. After a brief guided tour in Chachabamba, we'll start the hike, mainly uphill for about 3.5 hours, to Wiñaywayna (always young), an impressive Inca site that was an agricultural center with numerous terraces, a religious sector, and an urban sector. After the guided tour, we'll enjoy our packed lunch. Then we'll continue our walk for another hour to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where you'll get your first incredible view of Machu Picchu. After a brief stop to take photos, we'll walk another 40 minutes to the enigmatic Inca citadel of Machupicchu at 2:00 pm. Enjoy the incredible views of Machu Picchu from the Upper Terrace, which is circuit 1 of Machu Picchu, and take in the classic photo views. Then we'll board the bus to the city of Aguas Calientes, where the train station is located. Aguas Calientes 4:30 pm: Enjoy some free time to buy a snack or dinner, then board the train and travel for 90 minutes to the Ollantaytambo train station. Arrive at the Ollantaytambo station where our representative will be waiting for you at the exit gate and board our transport back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 9:00 pm, when our services will end.
